Post Guide: Where to Start

If you want to learn to program in R, I suggest this path:

  1. The “Help!” saga aims to start from absolute scratch: in part 1 I show you what R and RStudio are and how they work, how to visualize your data; in part two we calculate three basic measures: the mean, the median, and the mode. In the third installment I teach you how to make basic plots, and in the fourth we already look at other, more advanced types of plots.

  2. If you already have a little more experience with R and are interested in starting to reflect on your own data, I suggest thinking about different types of plots for different research questions.

  3. If you need to share your analyses, I introduce RMarkdown: here you will find a general introduction, and here you will learn how to configure the document according to your needs.

  4. If you need to perform statistical analyses: you can learn how to conduct Student’s T-tests to compare two groups, or ANOVAs and post-hoc tests and correlations.

  5. If you want to practice data visualizations, I invite you to see my #TidyTuesday contributions: analysis of US investments, on voice commands in Star Trek, analysis of Starbucks beverages, and choropleth maps on drought in the US, with its corresponding improvement.

I hope this guide helps you! As always, remember that you can subscribe to my blog to not miss any updates, and if you have any questions, don’t hesitate to contact me. And if you like what I do, you can buy me a cafecito from Argentina or a kofi from other countries.

I research language acquisition. I’m looking to deepen my knowledge of statistis and data science with R/Rstudio. If you like what I do, you can buy me a coffee from Argentina, or a kofi from other countries. Suscribe to my blog here.
